New airline, more new routes!

Wow, what a couple of weeks!  We thought it would be useful to share all our exciting new news in one place…

So first of all, Eastern Airways announced they are adding a third flight to their daily morning and evening departures to and from London Gatwick on Monday, Thursday and Friday.  As the demand for travel between London and Cornwall continues to grow, this extra capacity in the market offers

passengers up to approx. 7,000 extra seats throughout the winter starting from 28 November 2022.  The new flights will depart around lunchtime, adding a convenient middle-of-the-day option to the schedule.

Then we had a new route announcement!

Aer Lingus will start flying to and from Belfast City from 3 April 2023 up to four times a week.

Not only this, but the carrier confirmed an increased frequency of its Dublin service from its existing four times a week – to DAILY!  This further expands Cornwall’s airport connectivity by allowing for improved connections to the carrier’s 16 direct transatlantic flights into the USA.  Passengers will be able to complete US Immigration pre-clearance in Dublin before boarding connecting flights, saving lots of time and hassle when arriving stateside.

We expect fantastic results from both routes next year due to the enhancement of destination options available to those wishing to fly from Cornwall.  The new routes also increase opportunity for overseas markets to reach Cornwall with ease, helping us support Cornish tourism.

At the end of October, we welcomed flybe to Cornwall!

We celebrated the launch of their new flights daily flights to Manchester and London Heathrow…all-year-round by offering passengers on the first flight a Cornish cream tea with locally sourced products from our terminal Café.

It’s been a pleasure welcoming the new flybe back to our skies and both routes have proved to be very popular so far.

And last, but by no means least, we hosted a press conference, welcoming Eddie Wilson, Ryanair‘s CEO, where he announced three new cheap flights to Dublin, London Stansted and Malaga, direct from Newquay!

Enhancing Cornwall’s connections to international sun destinations has long been a priority for us so we are thrilled to add these routes to our significant expansion of our route network.

The connection to the Andalusian city on the shores of the Mediterranean will serve to enrich the variety available for our passengers for their summer holidays, while opening another route to the London market will offer substantial possibilities for Cornwall and the Southwest of the UK.

Operating over 25 weekly flights during summer ‘23, Ryanair’s new links mark almost a 60% growth in services from Newquay, as they join established and popular connections to Faro and Alicante.

Don’t forget Alicante is all-year-round if you can’t wait for a bit of sun!

And that’s a wrap for our exciting news over the last few weeks, there may well be more, so watch this space…
