Cornwall Airport Newquay is reopening Saturday 4th July and we are looking forward to welcoming you back. We’ve made some changes in the terminal to ensure the safety of all of our passengers and staff members, so we thought we’d take you through some of them in this blog post.
Temperature screening
We will be carrying out temperature screening for all of our passengers. This is a contactless process and you will simply walk past a computer screen which uses thermo-imaging technology. A member of our team will ensure your temperature is not above the guideline limit.
Face coverings
We’re asking all passengers over the age of 11 to wear a face covering throughout the terminal. It is important to bring your own mask, and to bring enough to cover your whole journey including your arrival at your destination Airport. You can find government guidance on wearing face masks here, including how to make your own.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Where social distancing cannot be maintained between our team members and passengers, or between themselves and other team members, they will be wearing PPE. You may see members of staff wearing face coverings, gloves, face shields or aprons, however where possible we’ve installed Perspex screens and our staff are maintaining a high level of hand hygiene.
Social distancing
We’re asking all of our passengers and staff members to respect social distancing guidelines where possible, this means we’ve marked out queuing areas in our check-in hall and our café. In the departure lounge you will be asked to wait in a designated area depending on which flight you are travelling on.
Hand washing
Hand sanitising stations have been installed throughout the terminal, and of course our WC facilities are open for hand washing. Please do wash your hands as frequently as possible whilst at the Airport, especially before and after touching surfaces.
Cleaning
We’ve been working hard to establish a strict and vigorous cleaning regime throughout the terminal and across the Airport. The new cleaning process will ensure surfaces such as door handles and parking payment machines are cleaned frequently using Tersano, a chemical-free cleaner which kills bacteria without harming people or the planet. We will also be using Zoono every 20 days to clean common touch point surfaces, this again is a non-chemical cleaner which has significant staying power, keeping surfaces bacteria-free for up to 30 days.
