Stobart Air last week announced that the Aer Lingus Regional route they operate between Newquay and Dublin will operate year-round, with a minimum of 3 flights per week in winter and up to 7 flights per week in the peak summer season.

The route which commenced in 2015 as a summer only route, recommenced on 14 March this year with both an increased season and frequency. With demand high, Stobart Air have now made the decision to extend the route to a year round service.

The announcement came as representatives from the Airport and Visit Cornwall were in Dublin to explore new ways of promoting Cornwall within Ireland and building awareness of the direct route.

Martin Saxton, Chief Commercial Officer of Stobart Air, said: “Demand on this route has gone from strength to strength in a very short period so it makes sense to extend this to a year-round service. The demand comes in almost equal measure from Cornish travellers coming in to Dublin and Dubliners wanting to visit this stunning region of the UK – this gives us added confidence that the route will continue to thrive on both sides of the Irish sea.’’

Al Titterington, Managing Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay, added: “Providing year round connectivity on our network is a key part of our strategy. Building on what is already a successful summer route and offering our customers the opportunity to travel between Cornwall and Dublin throughout the year is good news for both destinations. Encouraging more out of season travel to Cornwall is obviously beneficial to our economy and of course winter is a great time for a city break in Dublin. It also means that building corporate connections between Cornwall and Ireland is more achievable than before.”

Flights between Newquay and Dublin start from as little as £29.99 one way including taxes and charges.
