Cornwall Airport Newquay is excited to announce two initiatives aimed at improving accessibility and inclusivity for all passengers. These developments, the introduction of an operational ambulift and the implementation of the Sunflower Lanyard Program, mark important milestones in the airport’s ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible environment.
The operational ambulift is a specialised vehicle designed to provide safe and comfortable boarding and disembarking for passengers with reduced mobility. Its introduction demonstrates Cornwall Airport Newquay’s dedication to enhancing accessibility, ensuring a seamless and dignified travel experience for everyone. This reinforces the airport’s vision of inclusivity and excellent customer experiences, regardless of passengers’ mobility requirements.
In addition to the ambulift, Cornwall Airport Newquay proudly supports the Sunflower Scheme, a charity that raises awareness and provides support for individuals with hidden disabilities. As part of this partnership, the airport
has launched the Sunflower Lanyard Program, which discreetly identifies passengers with hidden disabilities, allowing them to receive the support they need, this may include extra time to navigate the airport or assistance with check-in and security screening.
Cornwall Airport Newquay aims to make the most of the airport experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible for passengers with hidden disabilities. Terminal teams have been trained to recognise the Sunflower Lanyard and provide the necessary support and assistance to those wearing it. Kelly Jones, Passenger & Customer Services Manager at Cornwall Airport Newquay, stated, “We are committed to making travel accessible to all our customers and
understand that for some people, travelling through an airport can be a stressful experience. We are proud to support the Sunflower Scheme and offer our passengers the additional support they may need to make their journey
as comfortable as possible.”
Passengers travelling through Cornwall Airport Newquay can now request a Sunflower Lanyard from the Information Desk. These initiatives, the operational ambulift and the Sunflower Lanyard Program, are part of the airport’s continuous efforts to enhance accessibility and create an inclusive travel hub for all passengers. Cornwall Airport Newquay remains dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences and ensuring that everyone can enjoy a seamless and dignified journey through the airport.
