Cornwall, UK – 24/07/2024 – Cornwall Airport Newquay proudly welcomes Aurigny’s inaugural flight from Guernsey, marking the start of a new airline service and destination for the summer 2024 season. The first flight, which landed yesterday, was celebrated with traditional Cornish hospitality, including a complimentary cream tea provided by Trewithen Dairy, ensuring passengers experienced the authentic taste of Cornwall the proper way – with the jam spread first!
The new route, which will operate weekly throughout the summer holidays, opens up a direct connection between Guernsey and Cornwall, offering passengers a convenient and picturesque escape. This service not only strengthens ties between the Channel Islands and Cornwall but also supports local tourism and provides an exciting new travel option for residents and visitors alike.
Passengers on the inaugural flight were treated to a warm welcome and a delightful cream tea, showcasing the best of Cornish traditions. Aurigny operates an ATR 72-600 aircraft on its new route to Newquay. The ATR aircraft is renowned for its fuel efficiency, and low level of CO2 emissions. With a cruising speed of up to 270 knots and a range of approximately 825 miles, this aircraft is well-suited for regional flights.
