With the freshest of seafood and other local ingredients on offer across Cornwall, it’s no surprise that restaurants all over the county are whisking up first class dishes in some of the most stunning locations. If you’re planning an autumnal trip to Cornwall this year, why not try out some of the brand-new restaurants Cornwall has to offer in 2020?

1. Cove24

Based in the centre of Newquay, Cove24 was originally due to open its doors in March 2020. Pushed back a few months, the restaurant and cocktail lounge was finally able to open in July. With beautiful, modern interiors; open space bar and restaurant downstairs; and cosy lounge upstairs complete with sea views; Cove24 is a real treat for anyone visiting Newquay. Using fresh ingredients, and handmade dishes expertly paired with great wine for lunch and dinner, or signature cocktails and small plates for a casual experience – Cove24 is definitely one to try this autumn/winter.

2. Lula

Set on the edge of the beach, overlooking Hayle estuary, Lula specialise in the freshest of sustainable Cornish Seafood and ribs for lunch and dinner, or if you prefer breakfast enjoy pancakes, avocado smash and much more. Take in the modern coastal interiors with a laidback beach feel or grab a takeaway and head to one of Hayle’s famously gorgeous sandy beaches.

3. The Bottle

Another fabulous new restaurant in the popular seaside town of Newquay, The Bottle serves handpicked wines alongside cheese, charcuterie and small plates of deliciousness. Small in size and set back away from the main high street, this brand-new deli and restaurant is a fun place for brunch, lunch or dinner.

4. The Cove, Maenporth

Michael Caines, of Lympstone Manor’s latest venture is this stunning restaurant on the shoreline at Maenporth Beach, just outside Falmouth. Michael Caines works to champion the South West’s impressive ‘larder’ of fresh produce over breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try out the signature six course tasting menu or enjoy an array of light bites and larger dishes. The Cove has also put a high importance on sustainability, sourcing local, sustainable ingredients and removing single use plastic wherever possible.

5. Appleton’s

Originally opened near Padstow, Appleton’s closed in 2019, however they’ve now relocated and opened their doors in Fowey. Head Chef Andy Appleton was previously Head Chef at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, and he works to combine the freshest of local Cornish ingredients to create a modern twist on rustic Italian dishes. Enjoy lunch and dinner all week, or brunch on Sundays; and be sure to try out one of their Negroni’s – it’s their thing!
