Air Traffic Control Assistant

Air Traffic Control Assistants assist the air traffic control officers in their duties to achieve a safe and orderly flow of air traffic. They record aircraft movements using the flight logging computer system and maintain diversions and cancellations. 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills both verbal and in writing.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • A good level of education of 4 GCSE’s including English and Maths all at Grade C/4 or above is desired. 
  • Computer literate.

Air Traffic Officer

Air Traffic Control Officers provide Aerodrome, Approach and Radar services to aircraft inbound and outbound from Newquay and the surrounding airspace, whilst maintaining records. They also carry out Aerodrome surface inspections.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, verbal and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Hold an appropriate medical certificate.
  • Current knowledge of CAA and JAR procedures.
  • Approved training at an ATC college.
  • A good level of education of 4 GCSE’s including English and Maths all at Grade C/4 or above is desired. 2 A Levels at a Grade C or above is desired.
