Fly from Newquay to Venice to start your Mediterranean voyage

Back to Blog

As part of the new charter destinations announced from Cornwall Airport Newquay in 2017, Newmarket Holidays will be flying to Venice, whisking you away for a 7 night cruise of the Greek Isles and Adriatic Sea taking in the beauty of Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Ravenna.

If booked before the 31st of August passengers over the age of 21 can take advantage of NCL’s ‘Ultimate Beverage Package’, as well as an additional on-board spend per stateroom booked!

Departing from Newquay on the 1st October 2017 you can now discover the Treasures of the Adriatic and Aegean, flying right from your local Airport. In just a few hours after departing from Cornwall, passengers will be collected and transferred from Venice Airport to board NCL’s Norwegian Star, and sailing south to the sun-soaked islands of the eastern Mediterranean.

As the voyage commences, watch from deck as the turrets and spires of the Venice skyline melt into the sunset before settling into a cosy, comfortable cabin for your first night aboard. Norwegian Star provides excellent on-board facilities, with 17 different restaurants and 11 bars and watering holes across its 15 decks, allowing you to find your own personal corner of paradise.

First stop, Corfu! Set in the glittering blue waters of the Ionian Sea, this stunning Mediterranean island is a verdant, flower-dotted landscape, described by Homer in his travels as "a beautiful, rich land". Take the chance to explore Corfu Town’s Venetian architecture, or take an excursion to explore this colourful island, with its citrus and olive groves, ancient villages and monasteries.

Soon after departing Corfu, the island of Santorini welcomes the ship to the Aegean, with its hillsides adorned with iconic Cycladic houses painted white. The rocky crescent of the island's shoreline traces the crater of the vast volcano that once erupted here, while the white buildings, cobbled lanes and blue-domed churches of the main town wait to be explored on the hillside above.

Livelier, but no less lovely than Santorini, is Norwegian Star's second Cycladic call - Mykonos. Visit the famous, harbour-side windmills, explore the cobbled lanes of the cosmopolitan main town, or stop for a drink and a bite in one of the many excellent bars and restaurants.

Maybe though, your idea of a cruise is simply sitting out on deck and catching those rays! As the ship returns from the Aegean passengers will spend a day at sea where long, warm evenings can be spent enjoying the excellent facilities on board Norwegian Star.

On the final day before returning to Venice, Norwegian Star makes its last stop at the Italian City of Ravenna. Once a major port, but now some distance from the sea thanks to the shifting coastline, Ravenna is famed for its stunning mosaics - thought to be the finest in Western art. Explore the city, or simply take a seat a cafe on elegant Piazza del Popolo, Ravenna's expansive central square, relax, savour the moment and soak it all in.
