Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park is an international festive attraction right in the heart of our capital. Running from 21st November 2019 to 5th January 2020, this year’s theme is ‘A Christmas Carol’ and the event plays host to food, drink, Christmas shopping, rides and entertainment for the whole family.
Entertainment this year includes Paddington on Ice, Winter Wonderland Comedy Club, The Mr Men and Little Miss show, the Cirque Beserk and Zippo’s Christmas Circus. If you’re taking the kids, make a visit to Santa Land and enjoy over 100 rides and games the event has on offer.
After all the fun stop by the Bavarian Village to fill up on traditional dishes, hot chocolate and mulled wine in cosy chalets and outdoor bars.

See world famous Christmas lights
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to seeing Christmas lights in our capital, but many regard Oxford Street’s lights as the best in London, and they’re usually some of the first to be switched on. Although the big switch on is yet to be announced for 2019, they went on in early November last year, so keep an eye out post Halloween.
The Regent Street Christmas lights will be illuminated from 14th November 2019, and if you like the sound of mistletoe chandeliers and glistening berries than Covent Garden’s Christmas lights are a must, they’ll be illuminated from 12th November this year.
Shop til you drop
Tis the season to splurge on goodies! So whether your plan is to hit up the festive section of your favourite department store, or browse the quaint German markets that adorn London’s streets, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to gift shopping.
Reward yourself with a treat too, perhaps a tempting mug of Gluhwein or some authentic German strudel to celebrate a successful shopping trip.
Visit Selfridge’s Christmas shop
Talking of department stores, Selfridges launched its Christmas shop back in July – 149 days before the big day itself, to be precise. If you’re spending Christmas in the capital a browse around this festive offering is a must. You can pick up anything from presents to decorations, so you’ll have everything you need for the perfect Christmas.
See a West End show
Admittedly a big part of proceedings, the festive season isn’t all about shopping and eating! Take the weight off and spend an evening at the theatre soaking up a show, there’s a huge choice at this time of year and leading performances include The Lion King, Les Miserables, The Mousetrap and The Woman in Black.
