Travelling to and from Scotland has never been easier, with year-round flights to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

Scottish airline, Loganair, is leaping into action launching two year-round routes from Cornwall Airport Newquay to Scotland. Aberdeen and Glasgow will be more accessible than ever from Cornwall, while Flybe has also extended its Edinburgh operation to year-round, giving Cornish residents and business travellers a choice of three Scottish cities to explore.

Explore Edinburgh

There’s plenty to discover in Edinburgh whether you’re based in the medieval Old Town or you’re spending time in the nearby Georgian New Town. Culture and architecture are at the heart of this capital city which houses some of the most unique attractions in the country. Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile are two of the most well-known attractions, with the former voted the top UK Heritage Attraction in the British Travel Awards.

If you take a trip to the Royal Mile, the Scotch Whisky Experience is something not to be missed. With a range of tours spanning first-timers to established whisky lovers you’ll learn about the distilling and blending processes. If you’re a whisky buff there are many places to enjoy a good tipple across the city. Usquabae Whisky Bar and Devil’s Advocate are both solid choices for enjoying an evening whiskey before you call it a night.

Discover Aberdeen

With miles of stunning coastline and a busy North Sea harbour, Aberdeen is a solid choice for a city break in Scotland. If quaint, old towns are your thing you’ll be spoilt for choice here as Aberdeen has not one, but two old towns: Old Aberdeen which forms part of the main city, and Footdee, a small fishing quarter down by the sea. Don’t be fooled into thinking Aberdeen is small fry though, this city is well-connected and has definitely earnt its spot on the tourist map.

There are many castles to explore in Aberdeen, with Balmoral and Craigievar Castles being popular with visitors to the city. A paradise for walkers, Aberdeen is home to 165 miles of dramatic coastline perfect to explore on-foot.  Whichever route you walk you’ll discover an abundance of hidden gems, including Duff House in Banff and the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses in Fraserburgh.

Go to Glasgow

Featuring a variety of unique neighbourhoods, Glasgow is home to great restaurants, amazing shopping destinations and year-round entertainment. The world’s oldest surviving music hall, Britannia Panopticon, resides here, which still shows productions to this day. You can also discover Glasgow’s Botanical Gardens where you’ll notice the striking greenhouse designed by John Kibble. It’s the perfect place to relax and soak up the atmosphere following a long day of shopping.

If you like to wine and dine of an evening Glasgow is the place to be. Ox and Finch serves small plates with big flavours and is a popular choice with both locals and visitors to the city. For something a little different try Vietnamese, The Hanoi Bike Shop, might not be a name you’d first associate with delicious food, but their pho is legendary in Glasgow.
